I was opening the back hatch and it seems that one or two of the plastic connectors that keep [the handle] fastened onto the hatch broke on the right hand side. I went to the dealer and asked about it and they said that I would need to replace the whole thing. The part is a garnish sub-assembly and the part cost they had was $229.17. (part #76801-47060-J1) This seems a really bad design that this little piece of plastic breaking results in needing to replace this $200+ part. I did see online some places selling it for about $150. Has anyone replaced one of these? How difficult is it? Thanks.
not sure what you mean, can you take a pic? the plastic connector that keeps the hatch attached to the hatch?
I would check out a local auto body place and see if they can help you out. They may have that little connector sitting around and do it for free or just a few bucks. Stuff like that, at the dealer, is asking to be burned.
...believe there is a Prius specialty shop on the way to B'more. Maybe give them a call and see if they can help at reasonable cost? Preferred Independent Hybrid Car Repair and Service Shops | Hybrid Cars
I had a broken clip, I ended up replacing both oem struts with new ones from autozone. About $138. New struts work well, old ones were getting weak. I use the hatch a lot - shopping, loading, unloading dogs, camp gear, etc. So, for 4 years of constant use, I am not surprised old struts were wearing out. DBCassidy
