I'm a new prius owner. I joined this forum back when I was considering on getting a prius and recently decided to pulled the trigger. I noticed that when I'm driving and the doors are LOCKED the door will open if I pull the handle. Only the drive and passenger side opens when LOCKED in drive mode. The back two door DOES NOT open when LOCKED in drive mode. Is this normal? I know some of you asked why are you opening the door while you are driving. The answer is that I don't at all. How I found out that the door opened was when my friend was in the passenger seat and I don't know why he decided to open the door but it happened.
This is normal. The lock only prevents the door from being opened from the outside. They are able to be opened from the inside as a safety feature.
