Just picked up the 2012 book Lunatics by Dave Barry and Alan Zweibel, featuring a Prius and a lemur. After about 50 pages, it is very very funny, but WARNING! lots of dirty words and stereotypes of Prius owners, sometimes both in the same sentence.
I read it and was laughing out loud. For starters, the Prius jokes and references are ones we have heard of before. Some folks may not appreciate the "toilet humor" and colorful language but I raised two sons and the "adopted" son who was my oldest's best friend and I have heard every bit of colorful language and fart joke I could have ever imagined... and then some. Picture this...when you are at a formal holiday meal at a family member's house and someone who drinks (a lot) notices (for the first time in two years) that his 18 year old son has a tongue ring and that someone starts spouting off something about how the kid "lied" to him and the kid fires right back that his dad's a liar and dad says "How so" and the kid fires back totally serious, "Well, you said you had a 20 lb ****!" I think the wine glasses shattered at that point - there was silence at the table and I had to excuse myself to find a pillow to laugh in. Back to the book - I also have type 1 diabetes and have a pump and to those unaware, they look like a bomb... I was trying to get home from a trip to Mexico and during the screening process I happen to get a screener who only speaks Spanish and while I have a medical note from my doctor, she screams and starts saying "Bomb" in Spanish. Great! IMHO, the word "bomb" should never, ever be uttered in an airport and I was held back from joining my family until a bilingual screener came along. Ex was drunk and laughing at me on the other side. I got even... I got on the plane first and told the staff, "The gentleman behind me has had too much to drink. Please do not serve him anything." And they didn't serve him a drop. There is a God.
I wish he could have... living through it was bad enough (sometimes hilarious) but maybe it will be fodder for my own story. There are hundreds of stories like that in my arsenal...and they all happened!
