Howdy, I noticed some specs covering the plastic exterior of the air conditioning controls on my dash today and I tried a number of things to get rid of them — to no avail. So what I stupidly did was use Goo Gone to remove all of these mysterious white specs. Well, it removed the specs, but it also removed some of the paint from the plastic. Is there any suggestion for what I should do? I just bought the car, so I'd like to keep it pristine. I'm a little OCD and the splotches of removed paint is going to drive me insane. I can provide some pics, if I didn't do a good job explaining my problem. Thanks!
Perhaps a dash cover kit. 2012-2013 Toyota Prius c Dash Kit, Dash Inserts, Prius c Dash Trim; Priusaccessory.com $189.95 cure for your OCD If it's the buttons - just buy replacement buttons.
Thanks for the head's up! Do you know how much a replacement temperature knob might be? There is also some discoloration on the knob as well and that (of course) is also driving me slowly insane. Or are there any polishes that can remove scratches and some fogging on it? I can't seem to find a quote anywhere online. Thanks!
Worst case... maybe repainting with a very fine coat (or multiple fine coats) of new paint? maybe a black paint designed for plastic from HomeDepot or a hobby store?
That knob is a dealer part - check with your local Toyota parts department. Otherwise some carbon fiber tape cut to the knob's circumference would work. Pokemon sticker?
