Thanks a bunch! A dealer I didn't know existed. And those prices can't be anything BUT 3s! I'll call them in the morning.
Wow, thanks, no, I hadn't even thought of it! I'll have to check first thing in the morning, unless someone else here knows (but getting late). Will let you know.
i dont think you need to worry. the hybrid components have so far shown to outlast the warantee by a very comfortable margin
$650 difference, which is the difference between a 2 and a 3! But I was told there were no 2s on the left coast! Ack! Thanks!
The '06 will be my fourth Prius. I bought the '04 for myself when my wife was driving an '02. I sold the '02 3 months ago in preparation for getting the '06. (Only have to finance about $7500.) I'll break the '06 in (heh), then let my wife drive it. She piles up way more miles than I do. Then I'll have the '04 again... ...which has been hit TWICE in the last two months! First a woman rear-ended it, and we just recently had it fixed (she paid): $575. Yesterday a kid opened her door HARD into our driver's side door in a parking lot. A real dent, not just paint. Neither car moving! Looks like another $600 or so (have to replace a body moulding I put on, the length of the car, since they'll have to paint the whole door). It's just the damned inconvenience---plus the paint never matches EXACTLY due to sun fade. I also have a red '97 Toyota Paseo convertible, which I've been driving while waiting. It's for my 17-year-old son, who's just now taking his driving course. Great little car---found on the 'net and drove up to WA to get it. Gets 36 MPG most of the time. Bought my '01 (white) in June '01, sold it after 45K mi. in order to get the '02 (new, discounted price: $17,895---sold it for $16K after 55K mi.)
Oh wow! You sure have had alot of Priuses! Seems like your getting most of your money back out of them though. It must be interesting to see the differences in them from year to year? I'm wondering if I'm going to be wanting to upgrade like you. I had plans on buying a car and driving it to the ground. Maybe that might change though?
Jack - Any idea what all those white and silver Sunnyvale cars are? Silver and white are my #1 and #2 color choices. Just looking for package 6, possibly 7.
Sorry, darell. I've been pounding away on the other thread (in fact, thought I was talking to you! ). The white ones at Sunnyvale don't exist. All sold. Some dealers do that (not update online inventories) as a teaser. Maita Toyota in Sac has a white one supposedly coming in the first week of Feb. I didn't ask what package. Sales guy I talked to was "Bee". As I make calls tomorrow morning (two OR cities, one WA, one SoCal), want me to inquire about white or silver #6s/7s? You may have gone to bed by now---I'll do it anyway (or you can PM me in the morning, if you get up and post). I'm getting e-mail from other places; can't imagine why anything's bouncing. [email protected]. What I meant by "get one in 3-4 days" is that today's experience convinces me that anyone can get almost any Prius if they're willing to do the work and to travel. I'm now 95% certain I'll be driving one---somewhere---on Fri.
Take a look at my post today in the Sales section - a private school auction in Little Rock has one to be sold February 4, you can bid remote, and there are no bids yet. Regards, Al Thomas
OK, Jack. I think we're all caught up. This is a bummer - if nothing else, I was looking forward to meeting up with you at the dealer as you took delivery. Now I'll go ask about the status of "my" car.
Found a dealer in Boulder, CO. Their inventory is showing a Gold Prius priced at $23966 and another Gold at $24316. There's also a 'Gray' at $23966, not sure what color that really is though. http://www.bouldertoyota.com/
This may be a bit further than you'd like to travel, but at Dick Poe Toyota in El Paso they have a Red/Taupe at $22546. www.dickpoetoyota.com

Back in the saddle. Toyota of Santa Margarita: cars shown in inventory are all pre-sold. Wish they wouldn't do that. Waiting for Portland callback. Then on to El Paso.
Hi Jack, Sorry I did not get back to you last night. I have a nasty cold and hit the hay very early. However, I have called every single Toyota dealer in San Diego county in the last hour looking for a Barcelona Red for us to see in person. While I was already talking to them, I asked about any package #2 or package #3 on the lot. White and silver seem to be the only colors in any package level on the lots down here today. They were all quick to inform me that there are procedures for getting a Prius and if someone's Prius were to come in tomorrow and they refused it, then the exact car you are looking for may suddenly be available. Good luck! Karin
http://westbury.toyota.com Their site says they have 5 on the lot. Mostly Grey. They also have 2 used '05s available.
Have called 17 more dealers, mostly on OR, incl. all suggested here---thanks again. No dice. Closest: Barcelona pkg zero = $22305, if anyone's looking for real low-end! It's in Corvallis. Dick Poe in El Paso minimally loads his up with $1,037 dealer (they say "port" options), even if the car hasn't arrived there yet. Looks like Dodge City, here we come. NO dealer, of 32 total called, has more than two available, on-the-ground Priuses, even if their online inventories show 6, 4, etc. There's a hard-to-find white pkg 4 in Vancouver, WA. andyman?
