I live it Florida and the dealer does not sell the Toyota Extended Warranty. The dealer explain that the warranty is a insurance policy - the price is set and can not be changed because it is govern by the state. They also said that I could not get the Toyota warranty from outside the state as I am buying the car in Florida. If I would get a extended warranty I want it to be a Toyota warranty. My question - is the information that is being told to me from the dealer right? or Can I buy a Toyota warranty from another state and use it in Florida..The dealer sells Fidelty Warranty Service which is out of Deerfield Beach, Fl.
Look at what's covered by the extended version, then look at what's not covered, save your money Definitely use a different dealer

Yes this is a Toyota Dealer. When I called Toyota main number was told that the southeast area uses another company for warranty. But need to know if I buy a Toyota warranty from out of state will I be able to use the warranty. Florida is the only state I believe that looks at warranty as insurance policy (the state regulates what a dealer can charge). So when you but the warranty they can not change the price. Everyone that buys the warranty pays the same price. When I bought my Ford car in florida - the warranty in florida was the same price no matter what dealer I would buy the car from.
You'll be buying an in state or out of state warranty you won't be able to "use." Warranties are total scams.... They have loopholes to ensure that you'll always spend more then you receive in return for repairs. Prius are one of the most reliable cars on the road. Put your money in a bank account that's specific for car repairs or comfort money if you get in a bad car accident. Odds are that money will sit in your account for years and you can one day use it on a down payment for a new car once you're ready to replace the one you're buying now!
Do a search on "extended warranty". You pay 100%, they pay out for repairs 30% (Consumer Reports figures, not mine). Sound like a good deal? Go to a casino, you'll get better odds. And, BTW, you will get a better deal going out of SET's area of exclusive distribution rights and still get the standard Toyota warranty. The car won't have the SET add-ons but look at the prices they charge and judge if they are worth that to you. You'll feel the difference in your pocket book. I saved almost $2k on my wife's Avalon and it was worth it to me to go to Laurel Md to the CarMax Toyota dealer there..no processing fee, no distributor add-ons, just pleasant email exchanges and the internet price. They picked me up at BWI airport and I was headed home with my new car is about half an hour. No surprises and I knew exactly what I'd pay and they charged not a penny more.
I agree. Save your money. I've bought warranties on a few vehicles, a GM, A Ford, and a Honda. The GM broke down all the time and I still didn't get my money back out of it. The Ford had all kinds of issues, but the dealer could never reproduce the issues, or didn't hear what I could clearly hear, so I wasted my money. The Honda never broke. Total waste of money. Toyota's and Prius's are very reliable. Save your money. They wouldn't sell you the warranty if it wasn't profitable for them to do so. Think about it.
You did not state whether this is a used or new Toyota. New toyotas are covered under the totyota company warranty and they may contact u to extend this warranty. The company is not in Florida that does this. Anyway this is how they tried to get me to buy the extended warranty after a certain mileage. I figured if I saved the premeium each year I could replace anything broken in five years. ??? Used toyotas from dealers are certified and may be insured (as are regular vehicles but at a different price) by anyone of the many car insureres for defects etc. You ussually end up paying thru the nose. good luck.
