Carlsbad Toyota has 2 on the way that are not spoken for expected delivery Feb. Both are #3's, one Silver and one Seaside Pearl. Helen would be first contact...858-382-0422. I bought for MSRP and they wont push for extras. Let me know if you need a ride!! Good Luck!
Now comes a Sacramento dealer bearing a red #3, due in between today and Monday---but the critter didn't know if it was spoken for. Can't find Sales Mgr. Will call back. (sweat, grind) They're almost always spoken for. This one's got thegray interior, anyway, and I want bisque/oak/taupe/tan/whatever. Meanwhile, Dodge City calls. "Oh, I'm watching the Weather Channel, and it shows a storm moving through CO Thur., hitting KS Fri. (true) By chance do you ship?" "Let me check with my Sales Mgr. and I'll call you back." (stall, stall)
Thanks! I think I'm closing in on one of two options here, but will put that on the third burner. I do prefer Seaside to Barcelona. I'll call Helen to expand my wiggle room. Used to come over and go camping at the State park there all the time when I lived in Utah. Plus my daughter goes to college in Long Beach. Thanks again!
Toyota Escondido - Blain Breining - 760-445-1828 He just came through for us by going out of his way to find us a Barcelona Red to come see. It is sold and we did not touch the vehicle, but we were able to go up to the dealership and go onto the "back lot" to view the car. He was quite pleasant and easy to deal with. We appreciated his efforts and low-pressure tactics. This car was a #1 with the gray fabric interior. I love the gray interior!!!! (Now, we were viewing it from the outside with all the doors closed and I would not buy a #1.) I spoke with Carlsbad Toyota earlier, but he didn't seem to know what was coming nor when. The first person I spoke with on the phone there said there was a red Prius floating around last week and then transferred me to "sales" to find out if it was still there. The ultimate answer was nothing was on the lot at that time. So, Jack, what is the verdict? I'm rooting for you to find what you want in the time frame you want it!!!! Sorry I could not help you more.
(see above post) You've done a lot of work for me! Thanks. I owe you and salsawonder lunch. Gonna call Carlsbad. Glad you got to see Barcelona; did you like it?
Call Howard Sheehy, the Internet/Fleet Manager at Kearny Mesa Toyota, 4910 Kearny Mesa Road, San Diego, CA 92111 ph: 858-335-5815, email: [email protected] They don't add anything over MSRP and they get a large allotment. He might even have something sitting on the lot right now. Tell him Mary with the Black Prius with the big "Owie" sent you.
Gerard is the guy that I bought mine from at Carlsbad. There are so many folks that go north of SD for their car that you have to figure that the folks up there are really good at customer service. Just looking at all these posts makes me feel so incredibly lucky to have been able to purchase mine the way I did. I'd say luck of the Irish but we are French!! Hope the luck is with you Jack!
You are welcome. The timing was perfect for me to call around anyway. My husband had jury duty today and got dismissed early, so it was perfect timing for us to go see any Priuses I could round up while our daughter was in preschool. While I already had them on the phone, it was easy to ask about your request, too. Color: If I were buying a red shirt or lipstick, I would DEFINITELY buy the Barcelona Red!!! In a heartbeat!!! And I really do prefer the gray interior because it is what I consider the "ideal" intensity for an interior color. A nice medium color to hide dirt, but not so dark to attract the intense heat of our climate. It is not so much gray versus "beige", although I do tend to prefer "cool" colors. My husband really liked the Barcelona Red! Given that he has a "blue" 2004 Camry, the red is his first choice (even over driftwood, which was previously his first choice). However, if he did not already have the "blue" Camry, he would choose the Seaside Pearl over Barcelona Red. I like the Barcelona Red as a color and it adds a certain "sex appeal" to the Prius, IMO. It makes the car a little racy, almost, in our opinions. It certainly is not a little sports car, but the red adds some pizzazz. When it comes down to it, I did not like that brightness of a red car. Wouldn't matter what car it is, even a cute little sports car...I would not pick red for a car. So we are sticking to our Seaside #3 and it is on the boat, according to our salesman. Please let me know if I can help you further, Jack.
Saw this from Valencia/Santa Clarita, CA dealer: Frontier Toyota Bought mine there, but they were doing the surcharge thing ($3000) last summer. I got them down to $500 over and may have gotten them to go for MSRP had I stuck in there longer. Didn't have to wait for shipment either. They had around 25 of them in their parking garage area. Salesman said they moved about 75 of them a month back then. Drove in at 7 pm and drove out at 10:30 pm with new Prius (with color and package I wanted). Aside from the surprise of the surcharge (they were really quiet about it until I noticed it in their 4-square game write-up), it went fairly well - if you can withstand the beatings of the rubber hose when you try and get them to eat the surcharge. If gas keeps rising, I expect the surcharges to come back...if they ever left.
Jack ~ All the San Diego county dealers with whom the price issue came up said MSRP and no add-ons except the car mats. The funny thing is they all made it sound like such a bargain. ROFLOL
Ok, I do feel like an idiot on this forum. My posts don't seem to come out right. Try again. Capital motors, Pierre SD 1 800 658 3372 Salesman I dealt with was pete bucholz.
Thanks. Hint: if you want to "practice" your posting (and saving parts of other people's quotes, etc.), stay up a little late, dig up some old, short threads (say, from 8 pages in or so) and practice away. They'll only stay in the "latest topic replies" for one go-around (probably), then sink out of sight again.
Toyota of Selma has had for the past two months numerous sitting on the lot. Selma is just south of Fresno, fairly close to you. Ask for Scott Fahrney and and tell him that Brandon Bianchi sent you. They will take care of you. Toyota Of Selma (559) 834-6555 3105 Highland Ave Selma, CA
Call Hai (pronounced "HI") at Santa Barbara Toyota. Nice guy, and he has two new Prius package 3 in stock. 805-967-5613. He did have a Barcelona Red Package 3 with charchol interior a week or so ago, but I'm not sure he still has it. I know he has a Classic Silver with charcol that just came in if anyone else reading this is interested. No finder's fee necessary. If you still need help, let me know. There were a couple of Toyota dealers selling at MSRP that I contacted that had the cars on the ground. [Edit: The dealers that had cars on the ground were in the central or Gold Coast area of California ... Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, Fillmore, etc. I'm finally picking up my Prius Package 3 in 15 minutes at Ventura Toyota ... I'll ask if they have any of the choices you want.]
Hi: Call Dave Sawyer or Diane Gillespie at James Toyota in Moses Lake, WA. (509)765-4517 and tell them Bob Allen in Seattle sent you. I've gotten five other new Prius owners connected with these folks in the two years since I bought my Prius from them. They are great to deal with and will NOT, repeat NOT, jack you around over price. They'll sell you a new Prius at MSRP and they have little or no waiting lists. Moses Lake is about 150 miles east of Seattle, smack in the middle of Washington State. It's an easy drive from Seattle and the city is also served by commercial air lines (Horizon); Dave will come to the airport to pick you up. I got one of my flight students connected to James Toyota and flew him and his partner over to Moses Lake to pick up their Prius. Moses Lake is primarily an agricultural community, and, while the dealership continues getting Prii from Toyota, most of their market is in trucks and vans. Let me know how you did. Bob
Thanks Brandon, fshagan and Bob Allen! Semi-breakthrough today; will probably have a car tomorrow. Pkg 3s in Selma (white ), Clovis (silver pine  ) and Salt Lake (also silver pine). Finding way more cars in inland central CA, from Chico to Bakersfield. Dickering on price now. Dodge City is out, though, with a big storm in Colorado today, it might have been adventurous. And Ken, the sales guy in Dodge, is just a decent human bean. Praying for a last-minute call from someone with a driftwood or seaside (missed a seaside by 2 hr. yesterday!), but looks like it's not gonna happen. could have had a red #3 in Elk Grove (near Sacramento), but the jerks won't back off $373 worth of alarm and wheel locks. Chippy salescritter, too. Will call Moses Lake for fun. Have been there. Talk about middle of nowhere!
Wow, it was quiet around here - I thought for sure you were on a plane somewhere. Boy, I'd be tempted to just get it done in Elk Grove, and bite the $400 extras. Certainly cheaper and easier than flying! You've got mail from me, Jack - likely in your SPAM folder.
Did it. Pick it up tomorrow, following a short Amtrak bus/train ride to Fresno. White #3 with gray interior. Applique only. $300 below MSRP. Had it down to three dealers, all returning calls within a 5-min. period, my having offered $500 below MSRP to all three (others: red and silver pine). One wouldn't budge, the other said he'd lower the price if it wasn't sold by Sat. Ran across three '05s, one @ $1000 below MSRP. Dealers contacted: 51 in 5 states over 3 days. Color least available: Driftwood. Package least available: #2. None west of Kansas. Winner of $50 finder's fee: Brandon Bianchi. Whew.
