2012 Prius. I start my car and as I'm pulling out, it honks 3 times. As in driving, it honks 3 times again and again. Them it just honks continually. What does it mean? Where in the manual does it explain the honks? Thanks.
It means everyone is going to be staring at you wondering why you're honking! Any warning lights? Did you spill liquid on your steering wheel? Where are you located? Is it really cold out? Maybe a bad switch in your steering wheel? Find a video / info on how to take apart your steering wheel and clean and inspect everything. In the meantime you might be able to pull a fuse to turn off the horn, but I learned in High School that driving without a horn is really dangerous. Don't do it more than once...
It means that something related to the horn is broken, and needs repair. While you list good possibilities, a 2012 is still under warranty. Let an authorized dealer handle it as a warranty claim.
A car horn honking is not a indicator of anything, nor is it a warning. Plane and simple it is a broken car horn that's honking.
There have been plenty of posts regarding alarm system installs gone awry. Take it back to whoever installed the alarm (dealer/aftermarket?) and have them explain/fix it.
