2008 Toyota Prius Touring | Carmel, Indiana | Indy Auto Man 2008 Toyota Prius Touring | Carmel, Indiana | Indy Auto Man Stone walling me some on negotiation without listings of other vehicles to show him. Do these look like solid vehicles ? does the 98k miles scare anyone on the 2nd vehicle ? Thoughts on a good price ? anything else anyone can think of ? thanks guys
seems about right for a dealer, have you looked for private sales? 98,000 is okay, but always potential for large repair. are you in a carb state? how much is a new prius II? first one says it's a touring model. they have extra features like larger wheels and cost more. make sure it really is a touring model, some dealers don't know the difference.
the one with 98k miles isn't gray, I don't know the Toyota marketing term for that color but it is more of a brown. Personally the 98k miles doesn't bother me, I bought my 2005 with something in the 7x,000 range and it's over 100,000 now. The Prius is easier to maintain than any other car I've owned.
It seems like a big price premium for a 40,000 mile difference to me! They're both similarly equipped. I'd go for the cheaper one, no problem OR try and get the seller down on his price of the grey/black looking one because hey, low miles. I mean I paid $13k for my 2007 with 53k miles this past September but it came with brand new tires and a brand new never used winter set of tires (michelin x-ice) on steel rims). I can see $14k for the dark grey one but $15,500 can be worked on. If you went for the cheaper one, that'd be cool too because its the same car I have - color and all - so you can finally say you are one of the cool kids and Ill let you hang out with me! hehe jk!!
I'd go see them in person with the thought that miles probably matter less than years. At 5 years old I'd expect these both to have a good future. If both give the same impression in terms of condition I'd go for the cheaper (higher miles) one. You could handle a lot of unexpecteds with that sort of price savings. Does the gray one have leather upholstery? That might be a difference.
I thought the touring models had special wheels, which neither of those seem to have. Seems that most dealers think all priuses they have are tourings, because they are worth more than standard models. I think the prices are right in line for dealers. I have been looking for similar cars. If spending 15k I would start looking for 2010+ gen 3s
If I'm not mistaken, the Touring models had P195/55/16 tires while the standard tires were P185/65/15. So he's listing tire sizes for the Touring, but the photos show the standard wheels.
i thought the same thing. seems a lot of people list touring then i see the wheels what is the difference between the 05 and 06 ? the interior ? 2007 Toyota Prius Touring, Fully loaded, Leather, Nav, Bluetooth has the touring wheels, but im in indy have contacted the seller though
See http://www.toyotacertified.com/ebrochures/08_prius.pdf for the full list of features and packages.
Honestly, from what I've read the Touring didn't result in a huge difference in handling. The std tires might give a less harsh ride.
I considered that ( 3rd gen). Most seem to think to save the money and get a gen 2. What are your thoughts ? not that I have seen a lot of gen 3 in the 15k range
