CORTE MADERA (CBS SF) — A hybrid car that caught fire in the garage of a Corte Madera home set off an explosion that burned part of the home, nearly injuring the woman residing there. Lynne McAllister told the Marin Independent Journal that she was watching television when a smoke detector went off, and she found her 2004 Toyota Prius on fire inside the garage. McCallister attempted to extinguish the fire, and then called 911, and the dispatcher told her to leave the house. When she got across the street, the garage exploded. Neighbors reported flames as high as 20-feet in the air. The fire gutted the garage and caused damage to the home’s exterior. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
