I have a very interesting situation. When I'm driving, I periodically hear a doorbell-like "ding-dong" noise from under the driver's seat. I believe it only happens when driving past one spot. I brought the car into the dealership for service and mentioned this; the service tech said the only thing under the seat is the Navigation unit, but the sound happens when I am not using the navigation unit. It's not my phone or the radio or any personal electronic device. What the heck is this noise caused by?
On our Prii we can assign sounds to memorised destinations by going to : Menu -> Memory -> Edit -> Selecting the desired destination -> Icon -> Sound One of the available sounds is the doorbell and the sound is played over the sound system speakers as soon as you get in the proximity of the destination irrespective of whether you were guided to any destination or not. There should be a memorised destination near the spot where the sound is produced. I believe that when you select another icon the sound is turned off else you have to delete the destination.
