The OP may be saying that due to this information. Toyota, Matsushita Building Hybrid Battery Plant I am glad that OP found an alternative to the expensive traction battery replacement offered by Toyota. However, if I ever find myself needing a traction battery and that Toyota won't help me I will go with ReInvolt. They seem to be the most recommended here on Prius Chat. On the other hand, if Green Tec Auto had a more professional looking website, I would consider contacting them. These days a cheesy looking website says a lot about the image of a company.
Call Boulder Hybrid in Boulder CO. (303) 325-7411. Talk to Paul. I am in no way affiliated with Paul but he just happens to be a few miles from my work. He helped me program my TPMS a few months back. He's a good guy. Scott
Drive the heck out of it. The install was $500. About the same as Toyota. I saved on the battery. (My mechanic was Toyota certified) Maybe it is an Urban legend. I couple of people mentioned that Toyota uses Panasonic batteries because of the ownership or business relationship. I checked out ReInvolt as well and got nothing but good reviews. Even talked to a southern Virginia mechanic who installs ReInvolt. I just couldn't get my car down to him (about two hour drive). And, Greentec was open on the weekend with a cheaper battery. So far I've put on about 600 miles with the replacement Greentec battery and no issues. Got my fingers crossed. I am not sure. Though a couple people mentioned to me that Toyota owns Panasonic, another poster said they don't. Maybe an urban legend or it is just some sort of business arrangement.
