My wife and I are planning a trip to Boulder this summer. We have a VRBO (Vacation Rental By Owner) selected and know our flights. We will need a car to get from the Denver airport to Boulder and to move around from place to place. The VRBO is outside of town because we're looking for some days of nightlife and some nights of peace and quiet. We will be there June 23 - 29. What I'm looking for is insider tips and tricks. Where do the locals hang out? Where can we park that won't cost an arm and a leg? I think this is our biggest concern. We're vegetarians; where're the best veg restaurants? Are there any good festivals we should plan for? What touristy places do you recommend? For the sake of personal privacy, I'm not going to ask that you answer publicly. If you wouldn't mind sending me a private message, I'd love to hear any good ideas. And if you're up for it, perhaps we can get together for lunch or drinks or dinner.
You will miss the biggest two festivals which are coming up soon. 420/EarthDay. I will be in Colorado those days, won't admit to anything more. Pearl Street is the downtown hangout. Touristy, you, of course will visit Celestial Seasons. A sort of cool place, which is outside boulder is an orchid nursery. My aunt took me there one cold winter-type day. It does not look like much from the outside, but inside it is pretty if you like that kind of thing. And hundreds of orchids. Warning, they keep it at like 105 and humid, which was way good in January...June? Fantasy Orchids is the name. I always use Happycow.net to find restaurants. I could "steer" you in Fort Collins, but I can't think of anything in Boulder. Give me awhile and I will think about it some more, ask friends and ask my dad. I hang out in Fort Collins a few times a year (lots of friends there). My dad hungout in boulder back when he thought he was a late-blooming hippy (I think he went to Red Rocks, got lost and ended up in boulder for a few years looking for Jerry Garcia)./ Anyway....
If anyone from CO here I would like to hear more about the incentives for Prius regular and PiP in CO too.
