Is it normal? As soon as I push the start button, few seconds later engine makes some wierd noise for about 10 seconds and silence comes...that when I usually start drive away. Is it normal?
the noise is not rattle sound for sure. it sounds like the sound other car makes when you turn on a/c..
addition; If I press start button, its very quiet and about 4 sec later, the engine makes this a/c kinda sound and goes quiet again after 10 sec. I check hybrid monitor while it makes the noise and yes. engine is in operation while there is noise.
sounds like the engine is just turning on, mine takes about 4 seconds before the engine turns on after I start the vehicle, so going from no rev to idle. thats only thing I can think of from the discription you saying, and if that is the case, its normal because the engine needs to warm up to optimal running temp.
yeah I think thats what it is... i searched rattling noise and it sounds totally different from mine so I know its not it.
Grats on the new prius btw, just got mine last week. Have not gotten alot of time to joyride it but aiming on crusing around a couple hours tomorrow to see what kind of milage I can crank out of it (got 62.5mpg today joyriding it today for only 30 minutes).
