I just scratched paint on my lower passenger side and scraped the back wheel turning a curb in the rain. Installing the plus package ground effects and forged alloy wheels will definitely make me happier about it. I'm also debating whether or not to upgrade with the springs and sway bar. Anybody do the body and tires without lowering? I have a 2013 Black Cherry Pearl Persona and the dealer would install primered ground effects and custom paint to match for about $1700. Is this a good price ($915 primered kit, $339 install, $450 painted)?
True that, also to repair or get a new wheel and refinish your car would probably come out more than half the cost of the plus package.
It will cheaper to get it done yourself. $775 (painted blizzard pearl, but might cheaper if unpainted) for the kit, $100 for the install. Find a good paint place and I don't see you spending more than $1200. Do your research. Personally I think it is just way too much to spend just for cosmetics if you were to drop $1700, but if you have the money and prefer convenience go for it. =]
I can't imagine it being difficult to install yourself since its just bolt ons. So you'll save yourself $339. The kit costs less than $900 painted so just buy a painted kit and take it to a shop to color match it. So much cheaper. With the left over money you can get the springs or sway bar.
I paid $1350 total at the dealership for Blizzard Pearl Kit w/ installation plus they charged me for installing the door sills in same quote. I got this done about 4-5 months ago.
the op is asking about black cherry ground effects kit. to my knowledge, toyota hasn't released one. you need to buy one and get it color matched. it might be difficult to get match pearl paint.
As difficult as it is to match the pearl on the kit, OP is gonna have to get his bumper matched anyways from the existing scrape.
IMO save some money and install the kit yourself. Check out this blog for How To DIY: How to install Prius PLUS Ground Effects kit by TRD | Balancing Act i used these instructions when i did mine. It was easy.
You should definitely drop the car and have the sway bar installed. My Prius felt fat and heavy when turning corners before the install. Makes a big difference if you like powering around curbs and off ramps.
Mine came with the ground effects amd rims, not the springs or anti-sway bar. I installed the springs and bar last week. It's like night and day. Car handles much better and I am actually seeing an improvement in my MPG since I lowered it... Before the springs and anti-sway bar, it was like paying for a 3D movie and then not putting on the glasses!
Ecopersona, my 13 (#229) came with the appearance package, ( 17"wheels&tires and some otherjunk) and I don't what else. I had the dealer install a blizzard white ground effects kit, illuminated door sills, rear bumper applique, and the coins tray in the console for $1205 out the door. Another dealer wanted about $845 plus $255 to install. That dealer was inTampa, and the effects kit was on ebay.
So which route did u go? Dealer installed/painted? And are those stock tires u threw on there or did u purchase a new set?
I went dealer installed/painted. They gave me what I thought was a pretty decent deal. The tires are stock on my brand new Prius Plus 17" Forged Alloy Wheels. I'm going to post my 17" Persona OEM Black Chrome Wheels for sale on the forums soon.
