Local news said it could be 70 Years before he gets a seat on the Throne. I will never see that day. Past my Lifespan.
The queen mother is so old one would think she would retire and let her Son take over. Evidently it is not her wishes
Hooray! Very good! Well, they didn't name him after the pop stars Elvis or Psy. But they did still name him after a pop star. He's called Prince George Alexander Louis.
Queen Elizabeth is faced with a dilemma. Lead a 54-nation soft empire, or retire and watch Doctor Who all day. It really is a hard decision for her.
I'd rather have a Royal family with all the issues that go with it than ever have a President Blair or President Brown. A country needs a head of state and the Presidential system alienates half the population that didn't vote for the President. At least with a Royal family peoples on both sides like them and in the UK it usually runs at 2/3's of the population in favour of a monarchy. Someone somewhere will get the get the big posh houses, the helicopters, the private jets. May as well as make it a monarchy where it attracts tourists from all over than someone who comes and goes every 5 years (well unless you live in Russia or Zimbabwe). Let's face it, would a UK forum be discussing the name of a baby of one of Obamas kids? I regret not.
Well the talk on the street is the future King William has some Indian ancestry DNA tests reveal Prince William's Indian ancestry - CNN.com
Well if Obama can be Irish (in a rather tenuous way), why not have a bit of Indian in our Prince? Heck, we're all related somewhere down the line anyway. Our family was one of those involved in that massive European DNA profiling because we had strong roots from an area with heavy viking immigration 1,000 years ago. I always thought I had a Roman nose and that we may have had some Mediterranean lineage too, but no, we're apparently 100% celt (Irish and/or Welsh to our American friends). It's all good fun this ancestry stuff
^ I got my DNA results recently from Ancestry.com and it says: 89% British Isles (I'm also largely Celtic or Scottish and Irish. May have undocumented Welsh and English) 4% unknown 7% Finnish/Russian...what the Helsinki!? Could be: Russia to Germany (Like America, Europe was settled east to west) Finland to Germany (some family members named Laake, so this might make sense) Native American (DNA goes back 1000's of years) Askenazi Jew? I have some Native American, and German that the DNA results did not directly confirm.
I doubt America could have a royal family even if they passed a constitutional amendment to allow it and titles. Allowing everybody awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and their descendants the title of Sir/Lady would be the easy part. The King/Queen would be the impossible part. America is by now definitely a multiethnic nation, so that would make choosing a royal family hard...with the Zimmerman trial fresh on our minds, that's easy to understand. And while the purpose of selecting a royal family would be to have supposedly the best of America represent us in ceremonies, just about anyone we selected we would hotly debate their views on all the socio-political issues that divide us. I'm only saying this would not work for America...any other nation that wants a monarchy, by all means do it.
Oh you shouldn't have one. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with being a Republic, but equally there's also nothing wrong with being a Monarchy either. Pros and cons to both. For a bit of fun you could have a national lottery to select the new American Royal Family. Make it into a tv show, have sponsorship, reality shows. Wow, I think this could be a money spinner. Just think of the American take on a royal family. "Here's the King, brought to you today by Google and Coka Cola, their automobile by Chrysler and their private jet by....." Such a missed commercial opportunity.
The royal family is a great, albeit expensive distraction from the government that robs you blind. We have the same thing here, it's called Hollywood.
In the UK the Royalty is a point of Pride. Medieval Coffin at King Richard III Site Holds … Another Coffin - Yahoo! News
