When we were shopping for a Prius, we initially were looking for a gently used one. I was really put off by the fact that every single one (and I mean at least 2 dozen) had dents, dings, or scratches that were larger than I could consider "normal". I even joked that Prius drivers must really not care about their cars appearance or they are magnets for damage... Well 150mi on the odometer, and someone backed into the front bumper of my SIX DAY OLD 2013 Prius 3. Dudes excuse: "I looked three times, and couldn't see you (or hear my horn blaring!) The damage isn't too bad, mostly just that black insert on the front grill. Filed the report with his insurance company, who promptly started sounding like they would deny responsibility (State Farm).
Yeah, maybe the Prius is a magnet for damage. I was driving on a highway and a flatbed truck about 4 cars up the highway conveniently dumped some of it's well secured contents, which included thick sheets of steel of all sorts of shapes and sizes, all over the highway. I couldn't avoid them because there were cars on either side of me. My bumper and got tattooed pretty nicely, but at least no one got hurt. Got that fixed, picked up the car, it looked good and that SAME evening my wife got hit by a car pulling out of a parking spot. No luck!!
Ditto here, two weeks old and ran over boxes strewn on the highway left by a someone who didn't secure them properly. I managed to dodge 4 boxes but the 5th black one was near invisible in the dark of dawn. $3000 damage to front bumper. Never found the driver and had to lick my wounds to the tune of the deductible and higher premium at renewal. Sucks big time.
Ouch! Just get it fixed. Then it will be just a memory. The sooner he better too! I'm very glad to hear it was very minor damage. I'm also getting very concerned about State Farm. I've seen several good folks running into a big road block with them Please keep us posted on how State Arn is treating you! Keep your chin up, better days ahead.
Sorry to hear about the damage to your new car. FYI, there is a horn upgrade that is really easy, and IMO, the single most important upgrade you need to do ASAP. Link to the thread is in my signature below. SCH-I535
Lol, it's not my thread. But you will definitely be glad you upgraded the meep meep wimpy OEM horns the Prius comes with.
Florida is a " no fault insurance state" which means no matter who is at fault each insurance company fixes their own vehicles etc.
State Farm decided to accept liability... they are sending me a check for $700. I think I'm going to order the fog light kit/grill from Juiced Hybrid, since I really wanted fog lights to begin with.
