I am wondering if anybody else has run into this issue: When I have the headlight switch set to "Auto" and the photoelectric eye turns the LED headlights off the Daylight Running Lights do not turn on. I have had this to the dealer twice and was told that since I had LED headlights that I do not have DRL's? Makes absolutely no sense since the manual seems to indicate that the DRL's are the same bulb that illuminates the High Beam but at a lower intensity. Please let me know if that is correct and if anyone has LED headlights where the DRL's are working correctly or not. I am thinking it is just an OBD setup that is the issue but I can't seem to get anywhere with the dealer. Thanks
Does the manual say for certain that your car has DRLs, or does it have weasel words such as 'if equipped'? The Canadian cars should have DRLs, but I'm not aware of U.S. Prii getting them before 2012.
DRL use less watts to light the DRL bulbs. Is it possible the LED bulbs will not light with the lower wattage? H
I missed this the first time: Toyota first put LED headlights on the Prius in 2010. The only way OP's 2005 could have them is if a previous owner installed some aftermarket kit.
Yes, the manual does day that it should have DRLs on the US version. The DRL's use the same bulb as the high beam which is not a LED bulb. The only LED headlight is the low beam so that is why this makes no sense. Thanks
Sorry, I now have a 2013 Prius V which is why I posted this on the V forum. I will update my profile. Thanks
All my earlier answers were based on your earlier profile of an '05 model, which lacked DRL in the US. Now that your profile is updated, maybe we can get a moderator to move this back to the 'v' forum, out of the GenII forum.
