Improving real world economy. I like it. Sounds much better than, "ok we fudge'd our EPA mpg's, and were sick of everyone bitching about it, & failed to grasp how bad we'd look" That's still better the pre-bankrupt GM claiming they crushed EV1's because no one wants plug-in's (then someone leaked the waiting list of 5,000) Better late then never. [EDIT] OOPS - I thought they meant Ford was going to improve (stop exaggerating) their EPA mileage claims So I guess this will mean their improved system that gets 47mpg will have an EPA of 55mpg .
Nope, just makes it easier to obtain 47 MPG. My other FFH is long gone, replaced with a HyTi, and guess what, it gets 47 MPG. So far my actual lifetime with 6300 on it is around 43, but the latest update has it climbing. The dash was 43.5 before the update 2 weeks ago and within 1000 miles since the update jumped up to 44. My last fill was over 48 MPG. Prior to that the best was 45 MPG. Today I got 55 MPG over a 36 mile trip. Short trips under 10 miles cold start though hurt it, especially with the roads I travel where its 55 MPH right from the start. The update made it easier to drive, shorter warm ups, longer EV times and 85 MPH EV.
That's good news, the software update makes a real difference, seems like you will average 47 mpg or better. Keep us updated!
Seems to be consistent, this is what I am seeing just about every morning. Not bad for a large sedan that seats 5 comfortably, including car seats. When I drive in more city roads, then where I live of hilly Rural Highway it does even better.
