lug nut question

    We have a new 2013 Prius 2. It came with locking lug nuts, but I may want to replace those with "regular" lug nuts.
    • Are all Prius lug nuts (or all 2013 Prius lug nuts) the same or are there variations?
    • Assuming the dealership gets top dollar for OEM ones, any recommendations on where I can purchase OEM lug nuts at a good price? (If there are different kinds of lug nuts, if needed, I can post a pic of the ones we have.)

    Why replace the locking nuts ? The dealer would be the best source for matching nuts.

    As long as you keep the 'key' lug nut in the car, they're not much of an inconvenience. Certainly not compared to losing your wheels. Still, the choice is yours, and a trip to the auto parts store or the dealership should be all that's needed.

    The dealer may just swap you 4 standard lug nuts for your locking ones - give your salesperson a call and ask.

    The retail price for a lug nut from Toyota is $7.07 each.
