Hello all!! Happy Thursday!! so, i know i posted on here about my car battery a little while ago about how to charge it and that has been working. but i have been noticing that my battery goes up and down a lot, mostly between 50% and 20-30%...is this normal? i had battery and gas gauge issues in the truck i traded in for my prius so im a little paranoid lol. is there something that i can be doing more/less of to help my battery? mines a 2004 so there is no plug in way to charge it. if this is normal, especially for this hot hot weather we've been having in CO, please let me know thanks all!! The Prius is not an electric vehicle, and the battery is meant to go up and down. When you see 1 bar on the MFD you have about 40% battery left and the engine will automatically come on to recharge up to at least 2 bars, usually 3 bars. When you have 8 bars, you are at 80% full capacity and the engine will automatically start spinning without fuel to waste energy and bring it down. Are you getting your percentage numbers from a scangauge, or just guessing based on the 8 bars on the screen? Basically, don't worry about it. If every time you get going you go down to 1 bar, and every time you stop it goes up to 8 bars, then you can worry. If it is mostly blue, sometimes 7-green and sometimes 2-purple, it is working normally.
