Just plugged in my new Scangauge and this happened: The female connection on the Scangauge body is fine. Tried my Torque app with ELM 327 and it is fine.
Uh oh, you let out the magic smoke! Hopefully it's the ScanGauge's magic smoke and not the car's; the car contains a lot more magic smoke, and so it's more expensive to fix. My guess is something's shorted either in the ScanGauge or the cable. Best idea is probably to return both and have them send you a new one. Bonus points if it explodes too.
Magic smoke and a bonus too! Hell, I'm plugging it in again! All connections look good and unburned except for this wire end. The ELM 327 and Torque work fine. I sent a link of this page to Linear Logic and hopefully they will just send me a new OBDII wire without requiring me to send in this old wire and/or gauge so I can troubleshoot. I have heard some good things about Linear Logic customer service. I do like the idea of a dedicated gauge instead of my Torque app.
They'll probably want you to send it in so they can troubleshoot it. Mine wasn't working in my Escape or Prius, but would in my parents' Yukon. I sent it in and they sent it back with the original cable and a CAN only cable that works great. Their service is really good.
Great customer service as reported! Franklin, Please reply with your shipping address and phone number and we will send you out a new cable and unit. Included with the unit will be a prepaid mailing label for you to send the old unit back to us with. Regards, Cristina Bollinger Repairs and Technical Support Linear Logic 1.888.433.5664
