HI -- we're new (almost) Prius owners - got all the way to a pre-purchase inspection and couldn't get the blue tooth into a pairing or discover-able mode. Can anybody educate us on whether the 2010 with JBL Nav system, back up camera, etc can pair to an iPhone 5? The dealer tech couldn't tell what was wrong and thought 'maybe worst case' would need a new nav/audio system - but give everything else works, that seems a bit strange to me. We love the car and want to complete purchase if we can figure out the iPhone connectivity - THANKS!
Use the Search function on here for iPhone 5. There have multiple posts on here about troubles connecting to these phones.
The issue was not with iPhone 5 specifically, the tech said that the system blue tooth function was not working?? It seems like it would be odd for only this feature to mal-function?? We're thinking that there is missing step or function? I stand corrected - the phone is an iPhone 4s not a 5 as above. The phone did not see a bluetooth device in the car. Is there a function to 'turn on' blue tooth capability?
OK. Yes you have to put the car's phone system in Search mode at the same time you are trying to pair the phone. It takes configuration settings on both sides in able to pair.
Thanks for the post. Evidently the Toyota tech found a non-existent problem, or ???? When we tried again to pair, it worked correctly and continues to do so. So - my wife went ahead and got her first Prius - so far, loves it - and that's a very good thing!
Well, now we can officially welcome you to PriusChat. Congratulations on your wife's new purchase. Take the time to read the Owner's and Nav Manuals and get familiar with this amazing car. Then come back with any other questions.
