We've added another feature here at Priuschat - a fully interactive chatroom! What we would like to do with the chatroom is set up a fairly regular schedule of times to meet up in it for general Prius discussion, Q&A's with dealers like Dianne and Steve (and any other dealers out there who want to join in), discussion with John1701A, CoastalDave, Jon from PriusXM.com, etc. So, obviously since you guys are the users of this site, you should determine when the best time for you is to chat and how often you'd be interested in doing it. All times are in EST, just to be simple. You can check out the chatroom anytime if you'd like at the bottom of the Forum Index ("Click to join chat"). Place your vote, we on staff will throw in our input and make some final decisions on times and frequency so that hopefully we can have our first live chat sometime this week. Danny
the old timezone issue can make it a wee bit tricky. The people in, say, Britain are five or six hours ahead of those of us in the eastern time zone and people in California are three hours behind. Would it be too much to have it going 24 hours per day? It's been quite a while since I was involved in a chat room on DALnet but there were bots to run to keep goofballs from taking over.
I'm on a chat every Friday. It starts 8pm EST, and there is a email with a reminder. That puts it at 5pm in San Diego so it starts when I get off work. That way it's not too late for the East Coast. We change it to 5pm EST Saturday when we know that Britain is going to join us. The important thing is to let people know as much in advance when a chat is in progress (or going to be). A post that says, "I in the chatroom, anyone want to talk?" may not get as many unless we know in advance. One fun thing to do is a New Year's Eve chat. That way you can say "HAPPY NEW YEAR!!" as each timezone hits midnight.
A PriusChatRoom. I love it! Let's see, time zone, Eastern Time, carry the one, round the hour, Daylight Savings Time, I voted for 9 - 10 EST / 8 - 9 Chicago Time.
A chat room that opens up at 8pm eastern will be running right as I get off work. Which means that I have about 2 hours from 9-11 pm eastern to chat. Not bad, but not great. Late hours eastern means that those of us on the pacific coast can participate when we are done with dinner and anything else we need to do when we get home from work. Weekends are totally open. It might be necessary to have multiple chats going or scheduled to meet the needs of folks from various time zones and world regions. Chat topics might also get people to come in. With a host or topic moderator and something specific to start the conversation with.
i don't see the link either... and Danny did you really make that post in January 2004??? i know i shouldn't expect to be a genius when i'm home sick but... i am confused.
This is a very old post from when we were on the old software. There is no live chat on the site right now, but I could look into it if anyone's interested.
