No reason, just came on this morning on the way to work. Driving at my lunch brake it 'fees' like the ABS and traction control isn't working... I had a wheel sensor replaced 6 months ago when all the dashboard lights came on during a rainstorm. Could this be another sensor...or maybe one that needs cleaning, going bad, etc. I'm fairly handy with a wrench, but where to start?
Every car made after the 1996 model year has a diagnostic socket under the dash called the On Board Diagnostic (version 2) or OBD2. Read up on the available "Prius Aware" OBD2 scanners on this discussion group. That is where you start as they can read out the stored codes that are triggering the alarms. JeffD
Look into the "mini VCI" on eBay. That is the best way to scan the Prius. Until you have something like it, you can get "blink codes" from the ABS system. You need to short pins 4 and 13 (if I recall correctly) of the OBDII connector under the dash together with some sort of stiff wire. Then make the car ready and observe the pattern of flashing. Count the blinks in pairs for each light to get a two digit number, such as "31" for three blinks, pause, one blink, long pause, and so on. Search for blink codes here for more info.
