Wow, I've been trying to predict the PHV price in Australia. Based on the base prius price of $33K this would mean the PHV is $44K. This equates to 8 years of fuel at 15000km/year and wouldn't be feasible. Is it the same in Canada? You would only buy it for environmental reasons?
I haven't done a calculation for the PHV in Canada but FWIW, the US price dropped from US$32,000 to US$29,990. It's been known that AUS prices for the Prius is rather high, particularly your i-Tech model.
There are provincial rebates available to some that effectively reduces the difference. Here in Ontario the PHV qualifies for a $5,000 government rebate, so that $9,600 difference in list price is reduced to a little more that $5,000. That makes it easier to justify.
