I blew out a tire on my 2012 Prius C while I was abut 300 miles from home. Midland Tx to be exact. I had to use the stupid donut spare. I went to the dealer thinking since my car was only 4 months old and I had the Toyota care and the best extended bumper to bumper they sell the tires certainly have a road hazard warranty. No dice and no one in that town had a replacement tire. So I had to spend almost 200 for a tire from the dealer. They even charged me to put the tire on. In a word Toyota of Midland SUCKS. So what I want is a Rim so I can put a regular tire on my spare when I go out of town. I know it won't fit in the space exactly but it will be okay since its just me and my wife and we lay all the seats down and pile every thing in the back. I know some of you change your rims when you buy your Prius so I'm asking if anyone has a rim they would be willing to get rid of. Discount Tire tells me they will get me the factory tire for 112 and can even put a road hazard on all the tires. They do have a rim but I'm trying for factory first if I can. Thanks in advance. Greg
It will be difficult to find just one. Craigslist will be your best bet. You can use steel wheels from other cars too.
I don't understand why one would be hard. Who wants factory rims isn't that why folks got rid of them? At least down south anyways. I can see someone up north having a set with snow tires. I can get a rim at Discount Tire I just thought I'd look for a factory on first. I did find a set of with tires for a pretty good price. But I just don't need 4.
if you buy one of them from someone, what are they going to do with the other 3? it's like giving you a bun and I'm left with just the hot dog weiner
Sell the others one at a time to folks that want a real spare. I'm just going to get one at Discount Tire for 49.00. They will also put a full road hazard warranty for 18 dollars a tire on my old tires. I wish I knew I could do this earlier.
Geebuz... you posted this originally at 6pm and then complained 2 hours later that nobody had responded... Not sure about everyone else, but I'm driving home from work and enjoying my dinner during that time. Settle down a bit... woosah.
I would give you 4 factory rims if you were closer to me in southeast Mo. Hope you find one closer. Check the pattern on older vdub 4 hole wheels. Mite be a match, not sure. Dan
Like I said I can get metal rim from Discount Tire so not really and issue just was hoping to get a factory rim that matched the others. Not a big deal thanks for all the suggestions. Ztanos I'm retired so I don't live in the same time and space as the rest of the world does sometimes sorry didn't mean to sound gruff. It's just this site normally gives you more info than you can handle in a pretty short time. Hope your dinner was good.
I would just go to your local Pick-a-part junk yard and buy any black 15" steelie wheel off a civic and pay $15.
First, locate a Honda 4 bolt 4x100 steel wheel in a junkyard to solve your spare wheel problem. Second, you damaged the wheel and tire; Toyota didn't warranty you damaging your car.You can have better luck with your insurance carrier. If you're lucky you may find a good tire of right size at that junkyard too. check ebay and amazon and craigs list too.
Check Saturn 15" wheels as well. Saturns from the late 90s early 00s used the 15 inch 4 x 100. They were almost as prevalent as Hondas.
If it's a steal wheel than does it really matter, the hub cap is going to cover it, no? Maybe you get get three more peeps to chip in their spare wheels and roll on four donuts with a spare 'real' wheel, ...I keed, I keed.
