The light over the driver's side sun visor is not working, hasn't since I bought the car. I tried putting in the bulb from the passenger side but that didn't work (bulb still works on passenger side). I think it's on the same fuse as other side so that should be ok. Any suggestions besides dealer service next time it's in? 2007 Prius pkg. 2 Great car!
Here's a simple test. With the switch on and the mirror open, move the visor from full close to full open. Does it work anywhere within that range?

OK, got my 08 Prius for 20 days now.. And yes I was going to post a question about those lights too. I checked the fuse box yesterday and all seems to be in place (because I remember reading a check list somewhere, they suppose to install a fuse for dome light before delivery) I am going to try open up the visor mirror and see if that works. (Gosh, what a stupid misleading design. Why the heck you put an on/off switch there while you need to open up the mirror to really make it work...
LOL I just assumed the light bulb was out and since I never use it anyway I wasn't too worried about it. Now at least even though it works I'll probably never use it ( I would scare myself if i saw myself in the dark LOL)
Re: Light over driver's side sun visor not working Because the light is for seeing in the MIRROR. You don't necessarily need the light on in the daytime to see in the mirror so there is a switch to turn it off. And because you can't see in the mirror when the visor is not down, the light switches off when the visor is raised, the switch is on and the mirror cover is open. If you want an overhead light, there are 3 ('dome' and 2 reading lights, though they aren't very directional) in the front and another in the back.
Re: Light over driver's side sun visor not working Just a simple question, why can't they make it simple by removing the 'on/off' button on the light? There is nothing wrong with the lights come on when you are looking at the mirror, even it is day time. having the on/off button there is just confusing... I still think this is a bit over engineered....
How funny is this thread. I picked up my car yesterday and when we got home and learned that the light didn't work, we assumed the dealer forgot to put in the bulb! I was going to post something here to see if I was doing something wrong! I will try the above method too! Thanks!
What I find hilarious is it is all detailed in the owner's hand book. I guess sometimes you want to look at yourself in the mirror with the light off? You might be using the solar lights!!
Re: Light over driver's side sun visor not working Well the thing is with guys, we don't always look at ourself when the visor is down.
Re: Light over driver's side sun visor not working I think mirror visors are mostly for gals. I don't comb my hair and I don't apply make-up while on the go. My right side mirror lights gets a lot of abuse from my daughter.
Re: Light over driver's side sun visor not working That's why I don't open the slide on my visor, it protects the mirror from ugliness. (My name is Patrick, I am one of the guys)
OMG!!!!!! You Guys are Simply overwhelming!!! I would have never figured this one out! After spending all day trying to find a replacement bulb for this place under the sun visor. Even spending time at the Toyota dealership. Yes they didn't even know about this! So I came home just totality confused. That is until I went on line. Thanks guys, you've really out done yourselves this time!!! THE BEAR!
Same for me, i was messing today with bulbs, fuses, nothing works and now i've found this... I guess i really need to finish reading manual after all.
