Hello Folks My baby is on the way. In laws will be coming over for help. So i am looking for a car to fit 4+1 infant comfortably with a decent gas mileage. After my research, i think Prius v suits my needs. Only issue is its little over budget. Please suggest something in the range of 20K including tax and fees. I appreciate your help.

Not sure what has the width in the back seat for a child seat and two adults. I know a friend's Altima has scant room in the rear with two seats for their twins, and that's a fairly good size back seat area. Boy, there's some depreciation for ya
Could be doable, depending on the size of the adults in the back For the OP's price, I thought something like a Ford Focus hatchback might be OK, but the back seat is not as wide as the v. Maybe a used sedan would be more appropriate. I know for sure an Avalon-sized back seat would do it.
$20k including tax a fees doesn't leave much room to buy new. Maybe a used low mileage v could be had, if the back seat will fit 2+1 child seat, or a low mileage Camry hybrid.
The Mazda5 is probably the closest in price for something new. The base starts under $20k without any fees or taxes added on. Depending on how high a priority fuel economy is, a Crown Vic or even a Grand Marquis can be found for quite under 20 grand.
Thanks much for the responses. There are almost no used Prius Vs in my price range. So that leaves me camry hybrid only.
I was able to negotiate used 2012 priuv V3 wagon(19500miles) for $23750 including tax. Do you guys think its a good deal? CA has tax around 9% so base price is coming around $21750. Also is there any gotchas i have to look for like do i need to do the inspection etc. As the car is still under manufacturer warranty i should be okay, right? Please let me know
Sounds like a decent deal. I'm glad I buy for the long term, because I've never owned any vehicle that plummetted in valu as fast as this V did. Did you buy that from a dealer? At that mileage, I would think it would be Certified.
I didnot buy yet. I am planning to buy from ford dealer hence not certified. Looks like somebody traded in this car in ford dealership. As its still under manufacturer warranty i dont think certified from toyota is not necessary. I may be wrong.
under 20 k miles and fairly new, I'd say that's a good deal. Carfax report would be nice as well. With the money you'll save on that car, it's a good deal all around.
