Hi all I am having some tire pressure issues and want to check my tps sensors anyone know how I can get to them. Are they on the wheel inside or on the stems? Thanks
Actually, both. They are inside the wheel, and the stem is part of the sensor. There is a nut and a grommet that fits on the thread on the base. The valve stem cover goes on the top. The black piece at the bottom along with the washer and the grommet shown would be found inside the wheel. Hope this helps you and makes sense.
Issues like? They're connected to the stem on the inside of the wheel, you would have to remove the tire to get to them. I personally would just check your pressure every couple weeks and call it good.
Isue is I have 8 wheels 4 winter 4 summer and don't know which set had sensors. The light is on showing a ptoblem. The second problem is if the sensor is set to a range for a stock tire but I mounted snows maybe with a different range. I may take the tire in and de mount to check which wheels have sensor.
Just look at the stems. If they are black rubber, then it does not have speed sensors. Most people with 2 sets of wheels leave them out of the snow tires. BTW, where are you in Jersey?
Unless you have a Techstream or similar scanner, you are probably better off not doing that. Each time you swapped sets of tires, you would need to program the on board computer with the new numbers from each set of sensors. A piece of black tape over the indicator light during the winter months would be a lot easier. PS I am visiting family in Toms River.
