Aloha prius owners, Im new to the prius world but just need some info in regards to me new purchase(technically not closed the deal yet) anyways, im fixing to close the deal on a 2012 new prius five with 85 miles on it. After hours of going back and fourth withbthe deal, i ended up 30500 out the door(after taxes and everything) it is now 2013 as we know. I was wondering if this was a good deal knowing that 2013s are 2 grand more than the 2012. Also, any complains on a 2012 prius 5? Im comingfrom a bmw m5 and after getting tired of the maintenance cost and gas expenses, i actually decided to get the iconic prius. I noticed that wen i test drove it, there was obviously some cabin noise and the ride was not the most comfortable. Howver, who can complain about its 50 mpg gas consumption after all. It was a choice between a 2014 accord hybrid and the prius 5. What made me stick to the prius is the engine noise that was apparent on the accord hybrid. And plus prius have the best reputation for reliabilty and efficienct.Any thoughts? Your inputs are greatly appreciated. Tnx for tour time.
Welcome to the Prius addiction. I think you did fine on the deal. That car in 2012 would have been about $35k or so plus tax. My 2012 Solar Four Plus Performance cost $37,407 and I got it for $34,407 I believe plus tax. That was a good price back then. The larger tires will make the car get about 4 mpg less than the ones with the little tires but the improved handling and looks are certainly worth that 4 mpg loss. What color did you get? Post some pic's. Mike
Sounds like a great price. Close the deal before someone else does. I negotiated a similar deal on a 2012 Prius 5 with ATP for around $31000, before I decided on a Prius Plug In. Great list of options on the Prius 5 with ATP. My Advance has the same list of features other than LKA (lane keep assist). I have the 17" Persona wheels on my Prius and I love the sportier look. After eleven months of Prius ownership (previous two cars, 2011 Lexus IS F-Sport and 2005 MB SLK 55), I'm 100% satisfied. Good luck.
Thanks guys. Got it in the winter gray. I was surprise with the accord too. Wen i test drove the accord hybrid, it was comfy and quiet up until about the motor kicked in. Then as we cruise along notice about an average of 30-35 mpg. But then again u really have to drive it linger to get the actual mpg. Is there a proper way to inflate the 17 inch tires on the prius so that u get the supposedly less 4 mpg conpare to the level 2-3? I know there is the glide technique. Anyone still get an average 50 mpg with the 17" wheels?
I get about 47 mpg on my 17's. I run them at 49 front and 47 rear psi. Sidewall max rated is 51 psi on my tires. Try all kinds of pressure but stay above 40 psi. Mike
I have the plus 17's and there's no problem getting 4.4l/100km (CAN) or 50 mpg (USA) when the temperature is above freezing. You'll be fine
Ours came with 215/45R15 Michelin Pilot. Then 4-5 months through winter it's 195/65R15 Michelin X-Ice2. With very marginal attempts at hypermiling, fair number of short trips, our calculated average more-or-less since purchase date is currently at 5.1 liters/100 km. Which translates to 46 miles per US gallon.
I think that mostly my problem with lower mpg's is the shorter trips. Most everything around here is within 20 miles and I know the car is not at optimum efficiency until just past 20 miles. I do a bit of hypermiling and keep an eye on my ScanGuage. Prius would still be a super awesome car if it averaged 40 mpg 'cause it can exceed that in the city or hauling nice person down the Interstates. Unlike a gasser car only capable of 'up to 40 mpg' on the Interstates but way down when it has to do stop & go driving in town. That is where the Prius excels, it can stop & go and get killer mpg's Mike
Yeah. Super stoked just drove it off the lot now. So far we loving it. Noticed that the averag mpg is 22mpg. Wonder why. How do i reset it? Lol. Still playing around with it. But overall its awesome.
Lol. Yeah im on my 60th mile si far its aceraging about fifty mpg. Driving it like driving my old car. Pretty satisfied. Love the hud.
