    Sometimes the EV will let you have a chance encounter with the neighborhood deer.

    Yup. I quickly found that my 2012, with VPNS, put them on higher alert that did my 2010 without the noisemaker.

    When I saw this thread title I was thinking car/deer accident. Good to see that was not the case. :)

    But that does bring up an interesting discussion. What are the decibel level differences at highway speeds between an EV like a leaf and say a minivan?

    Apparently not much. The Federal standard that will require the noisemaker in the 2015 model year indicates a cutoff speed of about 25 MPH on the idea that road noise begins to exceed engine noise.
