Basic question - haven't seen much on it... Now I know I wanted 4.25qts, so we went with that - but the mechanic wanted to "check it" after changing. We could find no way (in the bay) to turn on the engine. I went to pwr mode to no avail... How do you turn on the engine???
Turn the car on in the normal fashion, leave it in park then push the gas pedal down and it will start.
I think until it runs out of gas. I don't think the traction battery is charged in neutral either, so eventually you will get a message telling you to put the car in park. I haven't done it though, so not sure.
It's stated in the manual. In Neutral, the traction battery isn't charged. Which is why Toyota recommends you don't leave the car in Neutral mode in normal operation.
After I change the oil and want to cycle the ice to then check the oil level I put the car in ready then step on the accelerator, the ice starts, runs for 5 seconds then stops, then I turn the car off and check the oil level (a few minutes later)
I correct myself ... I tested and yes ICE will not stop even if the warm up is complete ... I watched temp got over 150F and about 10 minutes in the experiment I change to D and ICE stopped. Kind of make sense if ICE stopped in Neutral motor generator can not re-start it ...
