Did you know you can use Google's fantasic search capability and restrict it to a single web site? You can use this to your advantage and search for messages in PriusChat. It's a far better search engine than the one built into most BBS packages, including the one PriusChat is built on. To help get you started, I made a link that will open up the "advanced" search page of Google and set it to search only the PriusChat site: Search PriusChat using Google Now you have no excuse for not finding that relevant topic before posting a new message!
Alternately, you can do this by adding "siteriuschat.com" (minus the quotes) to your search text at the main Google site.
I didn't realize there was a desire for the Google Search engine on PC. I've added it as a new block on the sidebar for easier searches. Thanks for the idea, jbarnhart!
Are you kidding, Big D? Google kicks butt! They know more about me than I do myself. They catagorize me, parse me, metatag me, and help me find myself when I'm lonely. I was trying to think of some way I could use my GoogleDesktop to search Priuschat. I knew it wouldn't work but I was dreaming. And dang it if I didn't know about specifying individual websites for searching but never put the two together. But I never knew you could make a page like that. Great Job, jbarnhart!!
good god, shorten it to what's genuinely needed. http://www.google.com/custom?hl=en&sitesea...s=priuschat.com without all that muck you accumulated in the process of getting there. . _H*
Yours: http://www.google.com/custom?hl=en&sitesea...s=priuschat.com Mine: http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+s...g_en&as_qdr=all I really don't understand your criticism. You are offended by, what, ten characters? Since it's a link, why would you really care one way or the other? Danny's link is best of all, because it is built in to the site. I admit, I do have a fondness for the other features of the "advanced" search. YMMV.
thanks to Jbarnhart for pointing this out to Danny and thank you Danny for incorporating it into PC. Nice going both of you.
Mine on the left was collapsed. I see it now. I think that an improved boolean function and string searching will greatly increase searching functions. I have to admit that I never really got the hang of the built-in search. The one thing I liked, though, was the ability to have the returns as posts rather than links to entire threads.
