My new PiP has arriwed at my local dealer but is not ready for delivery yet. I looked at the headlights wich is the LED type. I saw the halogen light bulb with it's reglector. Does this mean high beam isn't LED? Have read a few threads about LED headlights but none give me a hint about the high beam. Regards John-Erik Sweden
Correct, high beam is halogen, which is pretty much standard on high end cars with LEDs, and factory HIDs (xenons). No big deal other than the high beams and fog lights don't match the preferred color of the LEDs.
Thanks for your fast answer. I just read a review of the prius headlights vs opel ampera and the prius had a lot better range and width. I think the high beam measured 247meters vs ampera 170meters. I thought this perhaps due to led high beam. Some Xenon headlights raise low beam slightly when high beam is activated to support the high beam. Nothing like this on Prius? Found the test in Swedish... Ljustest: Opel Ampera, Toyota Prius (2012) | Vi Bilägare (I tried to upload a photo of the headlights but an error occured although it is within the file limit) Regards John-Erik
I was really excited to learn the Prius Plug In Advance came (past tense) standard with the LEDs. For a 2012 model, very few cars could claim that. More now, two years later. In my opinion, the light output of the LEDs are excellent. That's after owing a MB and Lexus with factory xenons. Not sure what pictures you wanted, but here's a few I posted on another post. First pics is with LEDs on, second, off.
Thanks for the pictures. Looks good! I don't know if the arrow-like light is present on my car but we'll see that.
