... should have run over the Gremmy not the Prius Back in the 70's my dad had a Gremlin... we couldn't kill it.
I drove a Gremlin in '76 as a delivery driver at the drugstore I worked at. It would really get up and go, even with that straight six. Run over the Prius. There are no shortages of them. The Gremlin is a classic.
My brothers friend had a "sport" (LOL!!) version of the Gremmy with the manual tranny- he used to leave a pretty good stretch with it as I recall
the 200 ci straight six is a 3.3 l motor. sot its got some HP potential...I had one in my 66 Mustang with a 4 speed. while it wasn't a 289 v8, the I6 had some grunt and would not embarrass itself...
Randall 401-XR Randall AMC dealership in Mesa, Arizona received AMC's endorsement to build 401 cu in (6.6 L) V8 powered Gremlins. The cars started out as 304 V8 models from the factory and after Randall's modifications would run 13.90's at 103-106 miles per hour (171 km/h) in the quarter mile, for $2,995 (US$15,750 in 2014dollars[13]). Known as the Randall 401-XR (X for Gremlin X, R for Randall), a total of twenty cars were built for the street and one for the strip during 1972, 1973, and 1974.[53] Car Craft magazine tested one with some modifications and achieved 115.07 miles per hour (185 km/h) in 12.22 seconds while still remaining a "totally streetable, daily-driver".[54]
Why post in the FHOP? It is Prius related. And secondly, MotorTrend gets schooled by a Prius then takes revenge | PriusChat
