Black connector on 12v battery

    I was looking at my 12v battery today and noticed a plastic black connector&cable attached to a bolt on top of the metal bar that runs across the top of the 12v battery holding it down. Anyone know what this is? It's not the negative.

    Sounds like the battery vent.

    It's got an electric wire coming out of it and running into the back of the car along with another wire near the brake light
