With some reticence: Source: OC distracted-driving crash: Driver testifies | abc7.com I'm looking forward to more court cases with automotive 'black box' evidence. Get the word out and maybe, just maybe folks will stop being such idiots on the road . . . or at least the ones who are will get taken off sooner rather than later. FYI, collision avoidance was not an option for that 2006 Prius. I'm also looking forward to the day when computers and sensors start taking over for the idiots. Of course that might just lead to a better class of idiots but I'm OK with that. Bob Wilson
I have some Libertarian leanings, but your rights to privacy stop when you share public roads with me.....and 300,000,000 million other folks in the country. Remember when Drunk driving wasn't enforced as assiduously as it is now? Remember WHY it changed? Too many aggrieved parents were screaming at too many lawmakers for it to be simply a matter for the civil courts. One day the butcher's bill will reach a point where distracted driving will be treated as the crime that it is. In fact? I think that texting while driving is sometimes a more egregious offense since it displays a lever of selfishness and stupidity that cannot be mitigated by the intoxicating effects of having that one drink too many. People don't tend to have their higher brain functions impaired by poking on a piece of Gorilla Glass once too often. Black Boxes? Bring 'em on!!!! They're like red light cameras. You wanna foil the man's evil money grubbing plans??? Easy! Obey the rules.
Wait, you can pull black box records, but you can't pull phone records? Edit: never mind, she was not texting according to the records.
