Hi everyone, I'm going to buy my first Prius this weekend, but I can't choose which one. I have a choice of two 2006 models. Both base spec Australian models. Both exactly the same price after negotiation. One silver with very low 101,000km, one in black with 150,000km.they are both in similar (very good) condition inside and out. I prefer the black colour, but it has higher km's. Normally I'd choose the lower km model, as less wear and tear etc, but having read the threads relating to the high mileage these cars are capable of, the higher mileage of the black car is not so concerning... but should I be worried about low usage and the traction battery? Does low mileage damage the traction battery? Thanks Dave
No brainer - buy the silver one. This assumes you've done your homework and have inspected both cars thoroughly for damage and have driven each one for at least 10 clicks - preferably at highway speeds, 100 km/hr at least.
I agree that given the two choices, I would also buy the silver car with the lower odometer reading. 60K miles over 8 years is reasonable usage for the traction battery.
Thanks everyone. Looks like overwhelming support for silver! That's good because my gut was telling me to go with the lower km's...just had the niggling worry the HV battery might have degraded through lack of use...if that's even possible! Bisco, let me know when your self gets back to you!
