Replaced my cabin A/C filter at 10,000. Bought two new ones, but I wonder, if these things dirty fast enough, is it possible to "wash" them, let them air dry and reuse them in the future? I know it's not so with a paper filter, but a fabric-based material should be washable.
At 15000 miles or 1.5 yrs the manual of ours says it should be cleaned. I'm not sure how though, maybe compressed air? Should have checked on TIS when I had the chance.... SCH-R530M ?
Just blow compressed air through in the reverse direction. We're at 44000 km on orig filter, done this a couple of times.
That's how I do mine!! It works and saves some money!! But if it is real DIRTY; I'll replace it with a new one.
I found on my 3 with a solar roof, I get way more junk in that filter just from the car sitting in the sun and running HVAC fan to keep interior cool. Tried cleaning the filter but pretty soon realized it wasn't getting me anywhere. So your mileage may vary
