I would like to see the option for an extended cargo cover. The one we got with the car (and seemingly the only one available) doesn't cover anything that is on top of the folded down back seats. It would seem to me that they could make the other side retractable as well which would allow you to clip it to the front headrests.
Sorry, I am new here and didn't know how to start a new thread and also failed to notice that it said things I do NOT want changed. I will be more careful going forward.
As much as the storage is nice, I really wish the glove compartment could lock. And possibly a lock on the hatch storage compartment. With the plug-in, I'm always afraid I'll forget a window open or a door unlocked and someone will steal the $1200 oem charger. Oh and also a holder for coins would be nice. My cup holder is completely filled with them since I don't have a good place to put them.
I agree on both counts. The Camry and Corolla have a nice small drawer left of the steering wheel (roughly below where our buttons are for the headlight washers or solar panel ventilation system is) that's big enough for loose change.
love that drawer. unfortunately, they decontented the gen II hycam from a drawer to a tilt out something or other. still better than nothing tho.
Things I do not want changed: Keep the full-color central screen. Keep keyless entry with the push-botton option to turn it off under the dash for safety and long-term storage. Keep the bi-level glove box. Oh how I love the flip-up storage space. Keep the under-cargo storage space. Keep the [INFO] button that makes you accept a disclaimer and then takes you to the map instead of the Info screen. (just kidding; that's crap) Keep the joystick shifter. Keep the 60/40 folding seats. Keep the front passenger seat that folds flat backwards. Keep the exhaust gas heat exchanger. Keep Jan as the primary commercial spokesperson. Keep hope alive. Keep on keepin' on.
I like the color combination of the Prius Plug in. I love the Soft tex material although adding a ventilated seat option would be great. I like the JBL green edge sound system and the available safety connect. I would only add the remote lock and unlock function to the entune app. I would also like the remote A/C to continue working even if you open a door. Things I would love to see make a comeback would be: 1) All of the buttons from the Gen II Prius. That was the most intuitive multi-function steering wheel I have ever used. I know of no other car that had so many functions while retaining the ability to operate it eyes-free. I loved the fact that you could turn on and off the climate control, activate the front and rear defrosters. The MAP/Info buttons were great, they provided such a convenient way of switching screens. 2) Voice commands from the Gen II prius. To this day I am baffled by the fact that I could turn on the climate control, change the temperature and suspend/resume navigation guidance via the voice command on my Gen II (2005 Prius). Fast forward to 2012 and my PiP cannot do any of those things. I cant even zoom in via the voice command, something you could do wit the Gen II. Granted, we gained things such as address input, music player commands, Bluetooth commands and a few more. However, why do I need to confirm every voice command with the a "YES". I miss being able to say "65 degrees" and the car would just do it, no questions asked. 3) Leg room- I honestly feel like we have less leg room in the rear on the Gen III Prius. The Gen II had a lot of rear leg room. 4) The plastics on the gen II while hard felt more premium that the ones found on the Gen III. I have to say this only applies to the (2004-05 Prius). They added the rubberized dash parts in 2006. The 2004-05 had painted plastic panels in the front part of the dash, and the top portions of the door. The texture was very silky, however it could be scratched by pets or children.
You are right if the front seats are right back in both cars. The Gen 2 had lots of leg room in the back because the front seats would not go back far enough to fit a tall driver with long legs. The Gen 3 OTOH will fit tall people in both front and back in reasonable comfort at the same time. If you move the Gen 3 drivers seat forward to the same position as the Gen 2 seat, You will find it has a ton of room in the rear seat.
Cargo space is critical for us. I've rejected pretty much every sedan on the market for that reason. If Toyota reduced the seats up cargo space below about 17 cu ft we would have to find a different car. Price about $25K works for us. Include at least a donut spare. No spare = no sale for me.
I like the current smooth, linear feel of the gas pedal. Our previous Civic hybrid was the lurchy off/on opposite. Maybe that's a given? The brakes too: very solid, dependable feel. The oil filter that changes only the paper element, good idea. Home link garage door opener. Excellent cruise control.
I hope Toyota keeps the HUD and with it the possibility to transfer nav instructions to the windscreen ,in fact I hope they even improve it ! I love that feature in my gen. 3 ! In the European facelift version of the Prius V they kept the HUD but you can no longer transfer nav information to the windscreen ! I hope that's no bad sign !
