Original title: Hybrid Highway: Trial-blazing cabbie Way more than I can post, a fascinating story about a Prius trailblazing cabbie: Source: Vancouver cabbie reflects on operating the world’s first hybrid taxi | The Province An excellent read and great story about an early, Prius adopter. Canada article. I didn't realize that was such a big thing up there. But congratulatons! At L.A.X. they began using Gen II Prius as cabs in 2004 ( then again maybe that's just the first time I noticed them there as we got our first Prius in 2004) . I'd guess the Prius cab ratio there now is nearing 50% . . . . many are Prius V's too. I suspect some airport cab zones may add L2 spots for PiP's (in the handful of states that Toyota allows them to be sole) next. .
Next time someone asks how long the battery lasts I'll have to tell them I'm not sure that they'll get 1,000,000 miles!
My one experience being in a Prius cab, the guy drove like it was stolen. Not sure how typical that would be.
Saw a few Prius cabs in the Baltics recently. Mostly v's. Not a lot of private Priuses there though. Nor Toyotas in general.
