I miss some of the strips from my early years: 1. Archie (I had a crush on Betty, not Veronica) 2. Little Lulu---as homely as Nancy, but a bit more perceptive 3. L'il Abner God, I LOVED schmoos! We need schmoos again!! What makes you smile, present or past?
Great strips now deceased --- GORDO by Gus Arriola POGO by Walt Kelly BUZ SAWYER (can't remember author) Great Strips today SHERMAN's LAGOON PIRANHA CLUB DOONESBURY BIZARRO (a panel, not a strip, but in the top 5) NON SEQUITER
I still look at the daily Calvin and Hobbes online. What a great look at society thru a boy and his stuffed animal...and funny! I've at least 5 of the books/collections.
I go to http://www.comiczone.com/ and http://www.ucomics.com/ on a regular basis; partly because our paper doesn't carry the Sunday comic of the weekly strip and partly because they dropped a strip that I liked. It's amazing what strips are still out there like Nancy, Dick Tracy and even L'il Abner (although that's in reruns) and also what new ones there are. Without that I wouldn't know about 9 Chickweed Lane or Barkeater Lake. I know about the upcoming movie Over the Hedge mainly because I've been reading the strip online for some time.
There was a strip called Mr. Boffo that quit last year. I saved the very last one they ran. See attached. (Yes, it really was the last one! And, no, I didn't edit it.) - Tom
