I recently "bought" a 2011 Prius from my dad, and while he's been semi-helpful with what needs to be taken care of when, he's not the most reliable and usually waits for the car to tell him it needs maintenance. So, I figured I'd reach out here and ask for some help! I know the oil needs changing every 10k miles (or one year?), and the tires are usually every 50k...do brakes need to be checked regularly? Alignment? How often do tires need to be rotated? Thanks in advance!
Every so often, (monthly?) when doing 45ish, put your Prius in N and then stop. This will use the friction brakes so they do not rust and/or stick. I personally recommend one service not in the Toyota manual, at 30,000, 90,000 and then every 90,000 miles drain and refill the WS-ATF in the transaxle. http://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/omms/T-MMS-11Prius/pdf/MY11%20Toyota%20Prius%20WMG.pdf
What he said. I did mine yesterday and the Transmission oil was dark at only 40,000. go here: Toyota Online Owners Manuals and Warranty Download the correct maintanance manual for your model and year.
