Hello all, My first post, been a Prius owner for a couple of tanks now and enjoying it very much. I have been shopping tires and can't find too many LRR choices in my area. I can get the Toyo Versado ECO for $110 installed or the Michelin Defender for $118. I can't seem to find any stock of the Michelin Energy Saver A/S. I am not interested in having tires shipped. Does anyone have recommendations on a set of tires? Currently I am riding on a worn set of Falkens and need to replace soon. Thanks! FC
Tire threads are as numerous here as are the opinions. I went with the Defenders on my 2010 and liked them so much put them on my son's car.
Tire shops can order what they don't have in stock. Your choices should not be limited to what they have available
Thanks for the suggestions. I have been to America's Tire, Allen Tire, Costco, Tucker Tire, Big O and Pep Boys. All have my number, America's Tire was the only call back with no true LRR. Hoping someone has some recent experience with the Toyo Versado ECO.
what's your tire size? 195/65R15? America''s Tires and American Tire Depot both have these tires available. American Tire Depot had these in stock at my Riverside location or they can get them in 2 days. If able, wait for a discount like buy 3 get 1 free. I took advantage of that during July 4 sale. It ended up being like buying 4 tires price OTD when you figure out install and taxes. Not bad.
195 65 15 Looking for input, I can also get these tires. I drive a lot of hilly town roads, would the Michelin Defender work well as the Toyo?
Read up on the Defenders. They're a good tire but are not the best LRR for fuel economy. Some users noted a 8-10% hit on fuel economy at minimum until they wore down a bit. However, they are pretty long lasting. Energy Saver A/S's tend to have the best fuel economy which is what I want in a Prius. They are also very highly rated for braking and handling. A very good choice for a Prius in my opinion. If I wanted comfort for the road, I'd take my Lexus LS430 with Michelin Primacy MXV4's. Much more comfortable and quiet.
Allen tire called back, no ETA on the Energy Savers. Defenders Costco $517 Allen $500 after $70 rebate Toyo Versado ECO from Allen $566 Since the Energy Saver is not available in my area does anyone recommend other tires?
I had a choice at Costco between the Michelin Defender and the Bridgestone EP422 for about the same price. Due to my low miles a year 10k, 50% city driving in the local hilly neighborhoods, I went with the Defender. I'll do a follow up vs the Falkens that I bought the car with in the near future.
I too am in the market for tires, but is there one that is better then others in inclement weather? Supposed to be a bad winter this year, so I'm interested in something that would hold up a little better without being a full blown snow tire. iPhone ?
