I've searched a bit, but haven't really found anything on this, and I don't think I can be the only person who has been bugged by this! Its great I can start the solar roof from my key fob. I just wish the AC would keep running, but it stops when I open any door or even the trunk. Does anyone know a workaround / hack to keep the ac going? I notice, theres kind of a delay when starting the car.
Maybe I can help, since I have the same set up, first you mention the solar roof, that powers a fan to move outside air through the cabin at a certain temperature in the car, that goes on until you start the car. The Remote A/C goes on for 3 minutes only since it runs off the main battery, and will not run or not for long if the main battery is low. You would not want it to run to much if the battery is low. The delay you are experiencing with the A/C at start up is because you have it in Auto, it takes about 30 seconds for the Auto A/C to figure out the temp and required fan speed, if you have it in manual, meaning lowering or raising the fan speed, it takes it off of Auto, and will remain that way until you turn Auto back on. So, if you want the A/C to start right away, leave it in manual and change the fan speed to help get it to the temp you have it set at, then lower the fan speed as you need it.
Well the Solar Panel Ventilation System will keep going even if you open the doors. It'll turn off if you start the car (or cycle to IG-ON) or you activate the Remote A/C as you've stated above. The Remote A/C runs on a 3 min timer or when the doors are opened so I tend to run it earlier if it's a really hot day so that it'll have a chance to really cool the interior. On most days (60s-70s), the 10 or so seconds is enough since the SPVS already vented the hot air out.
As I understand it, the remote AC & the Solar Panel Ventilation System (SPVS) are two separate things. It would be fantastic if you could power the AC from the solar panel, but alas, that ain't the case.
meh, auto -- to setting manually didn't make a difference in the time it takes the air to start. i guess its kinda like how my parents and some friends; turn AC off before they turn off the car.. maybe for some precaution method, the AC won't start up right away when starting the car. i too, just try to start the AC from the FOB as soon as I know i'm about to leave, even if its >3 minutes, at least when i get there it should be kinda aired out / cool already. the lag of the air starting... i'm used to it, but passengers aren't and sometimes jump the gun on changing settings.
