I use a battery tender on of my cars in the USA. What's an equivalent product to use on my Auris hybrid so my 12v battery doesn't go bad? The car will be in Greece, which uses the same prongs as France, Germany et al. Also, if I don't use a battery maintainer, does the "force charge" procedure give a charge to the 12v battery?
I'm happy with my CTEK 3300. I see they have a Greek webite. Here's the English page: www.ctek.com (The MXS-3.8 model looks similar, is 3.8 amp)
Why ?? If everything is operating properly AND the vehicles are driven regularly, that is a waste of time and money.
Sorry but it was NOT apparent in this thread that you would be going back and forth. It sounded to me like you might be moving.....you AND your cars.
Even if the cars are not sitting idle, sooner or later you'll leave a dome/map light on, or a door/hatch ajar. Then a charger can pull back a battery, at least for a year or two.
I'm happy to report that this little 12v 0.8A charger worked beautifully to maintain my Auris' 12v battery for the 11 months the car sat parked. The manual says it's appropriate for smaller 12v batteries found in a motorcycle/jet ski/atv/lawnmower. It's fine for the Auris/Prius too. I connected it via the charging connector in the fuse box.
