I just installed the Visual Garage Shark Fin Antenna on my new 2014 Prius V. The installation went well with the antenna fully sealed to the car's roof. Since then the antenna seal has lifted off the roof twice and been pushed back down twice. I suspect that this will repeat as the roof is very flexible. Before I holler "Uncle!", does anyone have a fix for this problem or had to remove and re-attach the antenna?
I didn't know the roof can be lifted and flexible..Humm... My shark fin antenna is on the way! Can you post the pic? Thx,
I had a similar problem when I installed the VG antenna on my 2012 Prius c about two years ago. On close inspection, I found that the curvature of the base of the antenna did not match the curvature of the roof, leaving a small gap at either the front or the back of the base which the adhesive tape tried valiantly to fill, but ultimately failed. The result was what you describe. I emailed VG and they replaced it with one having the correct curvature, and it's been OK ever since.
My VG shark fin came and installed for about a week now. Mostly driving highway, so far so good and hope it keep that way.
I installed my VG shark fin on my 2012 "v" in April 2012. It's been there since than with absolutely no issues. First, I made sure that the surface of the roof was entirely cleaned with denatured alcohol.
I didn't clean with alcohol, just with dam clothe then dry clothe. Before I put it on I heated the surface with hairdryer just a little warm to the the touch.
dose you loose the signal quality after install the shark fin? it is happen to my on my Prius 2013...
I got my Beat Sonic shark fin antenna from Juiced hybrid. Perfect "Clear Sky" blue color match and it got a bit better reception in poor areas with canyons and mountains around Las Vegas. I used the supplied template for a well centered fit and have had no problems since I installed it.
