Red Triangle, drives well, but battery at 9.6V - am I on the right track?

    GC was saying you can pay £39 ($62) for the extended guarantee (HHC). I am saying that it is free of charge when you have the car serviced.

    11 year/ unlimited miles guarantee. Makes it worthwhile to pay the extra money for a Prius in the UK.

    The Price of fuel in the UK also makes it worthwhile at around the equivalent $9 a UK gallon.

    Gives those European Diesels a run for their money. $9 a gallon? Oil is less than $80 a barrel now.

    Fuel prices have come down over the last few weeks. It has been over $10 a gallon. Diesel is more expensive than petrol here.

    It's a UK only option.

    The HHC is payable at £39 a time every 10,000 miles or 12 months whichever is the earlier. It is however, also included in a Toyota dealer service.

    Get your car serviced with Toyota and they include the HHC and extend the warranty. Get the car serviced at your own garage or do it yourself and you have to pay for the HHC.

    Not going well here. Toyota replaced the auxillary battery. Tried to arrange service and HHC but she couldn't find details, said i'd call back later an arrange it.
    Got about 5 miles, all the warning lights came back up, went back.
    They reset the warnings, drove it up and down the road, said it was fine.
    Now I am home, tried again (after dealership has closed) and warning lights are on again - but now also in limp mode and hybrid fan is on.

    "hybrid fan on and warning lights on"....maybe you'll be lucky enough to get a free replacement HV battery :whistle:

    It is possible you have inverter coolant pump problems, under certain conditions this can also pull down the 12 volt battery, but just a guess. Keep us informed.

    How would I even get close to getting a free HV battery??!
    Will be sure to ask about the inverter coolant pump tomorrow.

    Frankly, I'm about ready to torch the damned thing!

    That's making me wonder too. And that they knew nothing about the HHC? That sounds interesting. My local dealers said they have had a number of internal bulletins about it and also had to invest in some significant technology to provide the service. I'm sure other dealers would be aware of having paid a large sum for the required equipment.

    Also, am I correct that running a car with a failed and failing 12v can overload the charging circuits? And a dodgy jump start could also have fried something.

    Still my gut feeling is a failed HV battery which is endorsed by the dealers not 'knowing' of the HHC. Unless of course the new 12v has been sat on a shelf for ages and needs charging up?

    The girl knew of it, just couldn't find the details... even if i'd booked in for a HHCin the next few days, it still would have failed before then.

    You sound sure. Most cars pass unless their HV battery is really on it's last legs. Is there something you're not telling us? Has the car displayed symptoms of a failing HV battery in the past? You've had it 3 years so will be aware if it suddenly started acting differently.

    I replaced a cell in the HV last year, so I know the signs. Last 12 months has been good - Nothing wrong until the aux battery failed yesterday.
    Now it looks the HV battery has gone again! So, yes could have been the jump start.

    Why would you need to replace a module yourself if there's a warranty on the entire pack? Now I'm wondering if they'll warranty a pack that's not original
