The dear wife crashed our 2004 Prius, crumpling the entire bumper and left front side. The body shop has fixed everything nicely, with one small exception. There is no longer the reassuring beep(s) when using the fob to remotely lock or unlock the doors. The lights flash, as before, and the panic alarm still works. The body shop is stumped, (and told me to go to the dealer for a diagnostics test), but I'd first like to query here for possible explanations. Thanks.
That sound comes from a speaker mounted behind the left fender. It was probably damaged in the accident.
Avi- This explanation is consistent with others I've received. I'll have the repair shop take a look at the speaker, and will report back. Thank you.
a bit late, but see my reply here, which is for a Gen3 prius. It may be similar to yours, but part numbers are probably different: No beep with locking car with fob? | PriusChat
